Conflict of Perception

Site specific installation, ceramic paper clay, 2010

One day, when she died, everything changed. I still keep doing the same activities but I have different feelings – there is something missing. To accept the nature of the life cycle is difficult. That is, all living things must experience pain, illness, and eventually die. This is the truth of life. In our mind and brain however, they are still alive. When a loved one is not around anymore, the yearning we feel expresses itself beyond the consideration of time. When we are confronted by our thoughts, we are taken back to the past and we imagine the living. What occurred in our mind is a conflict between death and the memory of life.
